TripAdvisor's top 10 beaches of the year highlights cliffs and 'cooler spots'

Tripadvisor reviewed millions of reviews about beaches around the globe to determine the top ten. They also considered the quality and quantity of ratings for beach experiences.

The list included more than just beautiful tropical locations.

Sarah Firshein (Head of Editorial at Tripadvisor) stated that "in addition to the well-loved beaches in Hawaii, the Caribbean and mainland Europe," and added, "Our community is really looking to boost their experiences by embracing cliffs like Cannon Beach on the coast Oregon in the Western United States and cooler destinations such as Reynisfjara Beach Iceland."

1. Baia do Sancho - Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

It is surrounded by clear waters, which make it an ideal spot for snorkelers and divers.

2. Eagle Beach, Aruba, Caribbean

It is ideal for relaxation and watersports such as jet skiing. The beach is located on the west side of the island and is famous for its sunset views.

3. Cable Beach - Broome (Australia)

The flat, white sandy beach stretches almost 14 miles and blends seamlessly into the blue waters. It is famous for its stunning sunsets and camel rides. Gantheaume Point is located at one end of the beach. It is known for its Redstone rocks and fossilized dinosaur footprints, which can be seen during low tide.

4. Reynisfjara Beach, Vik, Iceland

The beach was added to the list this year. Tourists love to take in the waves up to 40 feet, sea stacks and basalt columns.

5. Grace Bay Beach, Turks and Caicos (Carribean)

This calm beach, which is protected by a barrier reef and located along the Caribbean Sea, is perfect for watersports like kayaking and paddle boarding.

6. Praia da Falesia - Olhos de Agua, Portugal

Beachgoers can see orange and red cliffs from the sand. You can find pink thrift flowers and green pine trees at the top of the cliffs by following a hiking trail.

7. Radhanagar Beach - Havelock Island, India

It is known for its calm waters and vibrant coral reefs and is frequently referred to as one of the most beautiful beaches in India or Asia.

8. Spiaggia dei Conigli - Sicily, Italy

Tripadvisor users often compared this beach with somewhere in the Maldives. This long stretch of sand is where the loggerhead sea turtles nest, and it is only during summer.

9. Varadero Beach, Cuba, Caribbean

Varadero Beach, located about two hours away from Havana is also known as Blue Beach because of the blue ocean and white sand.

10. Kaanapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii

You can spot humpback whales on the horizon in winter.
