Holiday Weight Gain Guide: How to Avoid It
When it comes to sticking to a diet, Christmas and New Year can be difficult
December is the holiday season. Christmas, weddings, and new year's Eve parties are all on the agenda. Rihana, founder, and nutritionist of Get fit with Rihana share her tips on how to have a happy time while not gaining excess holiday weight.
Mix in determination
You don't have a right to stop enjoying the festivities. We know it is hard work. To resist the temptation of your favorite food at a party, you would need to have the willpower and determination of a superhero. Instead of trying to avoid something, control how much you eat . Instead of eating multiple brownies instead, eat only one or two.
Keep Count
This is not an easy task for everyone, but it is possible. Delay repeating your portion for 15 to 20 mins. This will help you keep your portion under control and prevent you from overeating.
Go Full
A great idea is to prepare your food ahead of time. Imagine you're going to a party at home. You shouldn't go hungry if you don't want to eat the food being served. You can avoid this by making it a habit to eat a healthy meal with plenty of fats before you go. This will help you stay fuller for longer and discourage you from overeating at the party. You are less likely to eat mindlessly if you're already satisfied.
Be Active
Working out every day is another great way to control your weight during Christmas and New Year. You might find that exercise can balance out indulgent foods. A daily walk for at least an hour is enough to get you moving if a workout is impossible. Walking is a great way to burn extra calories. It's also easy to do even when you are on the road or with less time. Keep the intensity up and the duration of your walk long enough.
Choose Homemade
Last but not least, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all the options available. Try to choose homemade foods over pre-made ones whenever you can. A small portion of your favorite homemade delight is better than a large box of packaged food.
It doesn't take much to keep in shape this Christmas or New Year. Be responsible and don't let your emotions get the best of you.
