An Injured Delta Passenger And A New Orleans Flight Attendant Were Arrested

A Delta Air Lines passenger was detained in Louisiana Wednesday following a scuffle in which he's believed to have inflicted injury on himself by a sharp object prior to taking a flight attendant's hand, who was afflicted with two "superficial cut marks," authorities said.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office identified the suspect to be Nelson Montgomery, 39. He was charged with battery aggravated in the disturbance of peace as well as simple battery according to the sheriff's office in a letter sent an email to FEMOLIA.

The deputies stated that the plane was in the air when the incident took place in Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana, around 4 p.m. The Sheriff's Office said.

"Montgomery was subdued by a number of passengers, and was held until police arrived on the scene to detain him," the sheriff's office stated. "He was taken to an area hospital for injuries not considered to be life-threatening."

A Delta spokesperson stated that Delta Flight 2432 operated from Atlanta from Atlanta to New Orleans.

It took witnesses to say it took 8 passenger to take down the man.


Passenger

The passenger reported that Montgomery forced the attendant into an escapist chokehold, and threatened to hurt her by hitting her with what seemed to be a fragment of glass that had broken, the witness was interviewed by local station WVUE.

The witness told the station that there were eight men needed to control Montgomery till the sheriff's department arrived, according to the station. The witness stated that Montgomery was bleeding from his neck.
